"A Good Sport" Soundbyte

BACKSTORY

It was while Lee was filming The Days of Wine and Roses that
the question of using her daughter
Kate, aged 4, in a film first
came up. Blake Edwards, the director of the film suggested
that Kate was just the right age to play Lee's screen daughter.

“I did give it some thought,” says Lee, “and then I decided
against it. I want Kate to decide for herself when and if she
wants to become an actress.

“Heaven knows, I have nothing against it. I love my work, and
nothing would please me more than to have Kate decide to
enter the profession. But it has to be her choice."

At 22, Kate finally did choose to work with her mother in the
film, A Good Sport, where she plays the friend of Lee's screen
daughter.

Lee wouldn't mind if Kate turned to acting "as long as I felt she
had the ability. I'd hate to think it was only a passion to become
a star for all the wrong reasons."

“It’s a complete change of pace for me... It’s a light comedy and fun to do. I rarely get a chance at such a script.”
- Lee Remick
"Remick...obviously has discovered the fountain of youth. As beautiful as when she first starred in the 1957 movie 'A Face in the Crowd.'"
The New York Daily News - February 8, 1984
"The two are a mismatch, and Remick is a good sport to accept the script."
