Lee, 53, has cancer of the kidneys and the malignant tumors have spread to other parts of her body.
The star has agreed to experimental therapy at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland.
“Pray for me . . .I am going to fight this,” Lee told family and friends recently.
Lee who has starred in 27 movies in a career spanning 33 years, discovered she had the disease in last March. She had just finished a telemovie titled Dark Holiday.
Her husband of 18 years, William ‘Kip’ Gowans, has maintained a bedside vigil with the children of Lee’s first marriage.
Friends of the actress believe the outlook is bleak as the cancer appears uncontrollable.
Says one close friend: “It is just terrible. This marvelous, vibrant, passionate woman still has too much in her life to look forward to and cherish.
”She is putting a brave face on things, but we understand the prospects are not good. She has agreed to any and every treatment.”
